Tupac in Kazakhstan

Yevgeny Morozov tweeted this video. It made my morning.

Video by Rubik Crew. This reminds me: for years both Nathan and I have wanted to try for the Mongol Rally, a 10,000 mile dash in a tiny car from England to Ulaan Baatar to raise money—hundreds of thousands of pounds—for charity. Most teams can make the trip in about six weeks or so, assuming they complete the trip. So… I seriously want to explore this. Anyone want to help me brainstorm how to raise money and prepare for the 2010 Rally?

Can I mention that I feel a little guilty for liking this video? I know Tupac is arguably MORE well-known in Kazakhstan than in the US, but it’s a different kind of fame. As someone who has helped a friend buy a 2pac spinner belt buckle [w/o the usual cigarette lighter they throw in], I feel confident in saying people there know 2pac. However, this video seems about 2 clicks away from exploitation…
