Herein lie a handful of announcements about all sorts of personal and Registan.net-related business.
First things first, I am looking for a job. I will be finishing my masters program in June, at which point I must quickly make the transition from addiction to fellowship income to the a 9-5 habit. Any leads, tips, pointers, etc. are extremely welcome. Or if you think you might be interested in purchasing my services, check out my resume. I am easily contacted here.
Moving right along, some might be interested in checking out Andy Young’s interview with me at his always excellent Siberian Light. The interview can be found here, and I’ve already noticed something missing. Under question 3, I should have mentioned that this blog played a minor role in sending a man off to a life of matrimony.
All Registan.net content is now (and apparently has been for a while…) available at a Registan.net LiveJournal syndication page. I’ve changed my syndication feeds so that they deliver full content. So, the LJ site delivers all the text you would see here without pesky government interference standing in the way. That same full content is also delivered through the email subscription service that a handful of people have been using for a while now. If you are interested in signing up, you may do so through the form here.
I’ve started a Google Group for Central Asia and Caucasus bloggers to help Global Voices do a better job covering the region. I hope it will allow bloggers to alert me to items I may be missing, and that it will encourage the occasional collaboration between bloggers in the region.
And finally, as of April 1st, you will no longer be seeing the slow-loading, crappy ads for things you’d never want to buy. With the expiration of my contract, I will gleefully no long be a part of Pajamas Media. I liked the “we give you money for inserting code” part of the relationship, but I absolutely hated that the “we will support and promote you” part (let alone the “we will communicate with you” part) of the relationship never materialized. Perhaps I will probably give BlogAds and begging for your spare change another whirl.

Good luck Nathan, and thanks for the shoutout.
And congrats on getting rid of that cheesy-ass Pajama media ad!
Gosh – is there a rumbling groundswell of disatisfaction with PajamasMedia? another blogger I read regularly, Clive Davis, is parting company with PM.
People who were signed up at the beginning are now at the end of their contracts. They’re choosing not to renew with a lot of us. Actually, they’re willing to allow us the privilege of continuing to run their ads, but the only pay they will offer is being part of the network. That has zero value as they didn’t do anything to make it valuable. I think many of us had hoped that PJM would promote our blogs, but they did nothing of the sort. They also failed to ever communicate with us about things. I received no more than 10 emails from them with news about the organization. There were real hopes that they’d drive traffic our way, involve us in the operation, and be something different. Instead, it’s the same old, same old — a crappy mainstream media clone featuring National Review and Weekly Standard second-stringers and overrated warbloggers.
