Ferghana.ru carries a short article on Gulnora Karimova’s entry into pop music.
Uzbek entertainment channel TV-Markaz (colloquially known as MTV) launched a promotion campaign of a number by Gulnara Karimova – the president’s daughter. The flick in question concerns the famous Unutma Meni (Forget Me Never). As of late last week, the number is broadcast at the rate of several dozen runs per evening.
What are the odds she’ll end up playing the Independence Day concert?
Gulnora performs as “Googoosha,” which is apparently what her father called her when she was a little girl. Ferghana.ru suggests that the name choice may in fact be to make a connection between Gulnora and the Iranian Azeri performer Googoosh.
Shov-Shuv.uz has a short article with tons of comments regarding Googoosha’s new video, “Unutma Meni.” They also have an mp3 of one of her songs available for download.
As for the video of “Unutma Meni,” YouTube provides, so the whole world can see the flying luxury car the Princess of the Uzbeks has at her beck and call to fly her off to her tropical island getaway, where she relaxes under the ever-present aurora borealis.

What the hell is wrong with her?
That is but one of many questions that came to mind when I saw this…
How could she ruin such a beautiful song. I remember this song when I was a kid, and it was so beautiful. This Lyagoosha completely messed it up. No voice!

Yuck. This video would be nasty enough without the background, but when you know that this is Islam Karimov’s little princess……for some reason the buildings in the background look more like Lahore than anywhere in Uzbekistan. Any reason why that should be?

What I am always amazed of is the absence of the feeling called shame in her, I wonder did she think about how ordinary people, Uzbeks, will look at her, to her car and her ring and etc., does she ever think what will happen in 2-3 years time, where she will hide herself from all those powerful men and ordinary people lined up to tear her apart for what her daddy and what she personally has done?
Alexander – You are right, it does remind you of Lahore or Baghdad in 10th century. And all this after so many bullshit talk of her father of how one has to love his motherland and Uzbekistan is heaven on the earth. No sense of responsibility whatsoever.
The fact that the video is done amateurishly, tiny amount of work and imagination went into it, absence of the story in the video and the choice of the song it self again shows that it is the product of her spoiled ego, kind of – why all these Shoxruhs and the rest can do it while I can’t, do me a video and chose a song for me, I want it to be ready by tomorrow in the morning.
Notice that there is only one human being in the entire video? What does that say when either (a) nobody wants to be in the clip with her, or (b) Gulnora doesn’t want to share the clip with anyone else?
The mind boggles. Perhaps there will be a duet between Gulnora and Darigha Nazarbayeva setting the seal on Kazakh-Uzbek relations.

How can human being be so stupid? She messed the beautiful song of my childhood. I only can say that she is – DURA, it means FOOL!!! No voice at ALL!!! It is obvious that she is competing with Nazarbaeva(an other DURA!)

I wondered why shov-shuv.uz was promoting this girl so hard… It doesn’t seem like a wise choice for Karimov, making his daughter someone who will likely perform in front of large crowds. Yeah, maybe she will sing the main “vatan” song at the Independence Day show and then just as quickly retire.
In American English, princess usually has a negative connotation.

Gulnora and her blood sucker father Islom Karimov should be ashamed of this video. Uzbek people live in poverty and this whore acts and lives like a princess with all the stolen money that belongs to Uzbek people. Gulnora may have money now but she will never have class. Once her father is out of the picture his and her enimies will rip her apart just like Rustam said.

The video would have been more entertaining if she did it out of a prison cell, specially the ones her dad uses for torture, rape and boiling people. She would have played the part well.
