Unfortunately, this is more of a navel-gazing kind of year in review post. More serious looks back can be found here, here, and here.
First off, I’m having a hard time deciding which attack on me and Registan.net entertains me most. UK Indymedia’s was nice because it had lawsuit potential. Justin Raimondo’s wasn’t nearly as strong, but filled me with joy because of how it shook out. The “Nathan and the Bush Boys” line wasn’t really all that bad, but is memorable.
Here are a handful of little tidbits about the site:
- There were 852,916 visits to the site this year according to webalizer. (521,212 according to awstats)
- December’s been the busiest with 96,917 visits. (39,615 according to awstats with March as the busiest at 58,888)
- There have been 1,584 posts made to the site this year.
- I don’t know how many comments there have been, but with the growth in readership, there’s been major growth in commenting on the site.
Blogging also managed to get me a few paid gigs this year,* and Registan.net got a few media mentions (which I unfortunately didn’t keep track of too well) including this one on the picture box.

What a year. Nathan, hats off to you for creating this incredible community where all of us, big and small, famous and infamous and completely unfamous, can have a solid roundtable with other people passionate about this region of the world and its peoples. I have to admit I had no idea your readership was as large as you quoted–you’ve really done something here, and I’m very honored and proud to get to be a part of this community. May the next year bring you are your site much more sucess.
