Dr. Dean Goes to Yerevan

by Nathan Hamm on 8/19/2005 · 5 comments

Melon celebrations, the seizure of orange items, merciful acceptance of converted vehicles–these are the kinds of stories I expect to hear out of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Hearing that Howard Dean is in Armenia is simply bizarre.

Tim Russo has more here and here. And Onnik Krikorian has posts here and here.

Be sure to follow at least the first of Tim’s posts. Seems Dr. Dean may have gone and done something foolish again.

You mean “foolish” like invade a foreign country while lying to your people, or something of consequence, like _allowing_ the major tv news stations to play one scream 800 times in a two day period?

Nice to see you have lower standards for the left’s conduct.

And Josh, do you seriously believe that tv networks broadcast something like that only at the allowance of… well, you don’t say. But you seem to have such a childish understanding of politics, I’m assuming you think it’s a secret cabal deep below the White House.

When I say foolish, I mean exactly what Tim has pointed out about Dean’s visit. And when I say “again,” I am referring to Dean’s incredible talent for sticking his foot in his mouth when he’s speaking unscripted.

While I often disagree with Nathan, I have to agree with him that Dean, as DC chair, going to Armenia is foolish. What could he hope to accomplish for the Demo. party?
